We decided that our film would be Suitable for 15 years.
The BBFC's Guidelines state that moderate language like sh*t/f*ck etc, would be seen as appropriate for the rating 15 strong language like 'cunt' would not be allowed.
Our film would probly contain the moderate language,to refer to the other characters, during convosation, and possibly in everyday speech, due to the fact our film is based on "Uk Teen" and bad language is not seen as uncommon between teens For example - "sh*t the police are chasing us"
At 15 moderate violence is allowed but it cannot be too detailed. They should be no Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised
At 15 Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable For exsaple - a youth maybe seem smoking canibus.
Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification. For exsample- a fight may break out but the actions wouldnt be shown close up or into muchdetail
Powerful, disturbing and realistic is the 2008's Adulthood, took us deep into London’s unseen urban lifestyle the film brought a fantastic hard hitting realistic reflection of what it’s like for 21st century teenagers growing up in working class families, this is where sex is currency, drugs are easily come by and violence is just the way of life, throughout this film the “Hoodies” that are worn by these informal youths are emphasised by dramatic lifting of the hood’s and the percentage of teenagers in the film wherein them, we was able to combine the “UK teen” image in our film with upper-class, as we thought the Hoodies are typically known as intimidating and we thought we would combine these two very diverse things and present a opening of a film Staring a youth from the U.k who grew up in the urban streets of Manchester, not in your every day typical scenario. we watdhed the opening of adulthood and there of a number of clips from kidulthood before the actual movie begins and this is to remind people of what the last movie is like. the editing technique was very good and we wancted to use this in our own film and so we applied this tehcnique of flashing clips when we came to edit our own footage.
This is the costume that we put our main character in. the reason we did this was because we wanted him to not look as typical as other 18 year olds would and by putting him in a suit we are conveying that he is pulling away from the typial teenager that would be wearing tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie. we had an advantage because our main chracter looks older than 18 and so we could go any where with the storyline. putting him in the suit whilst he is waking through the office corridors worked very well and he looked like a professionall business man with his own office and so when it shows him running down the bike path, it makes the audience question why.
After a group disscusion, we have decided to make our 2min opening more complex original and unique, after hours of planning and filming we relised our first idea could be made so much more intresting and with our potential we can create a better opening than what disscused in the beginning. our initial idea was to show Derrick running in various places and keep a fast speed to the film and we wanted to show him running thoruh diferent locations and thought we should put him in some old tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie. we then had a talk with our teacher and concluded that this is too much of a typical idea to put a teenage boy in tracksuit bottoms when we have an advantage becaus ehe looks a lot older than 18. we have now decided that we will re thik the mise en scene and out Derrick in a plain black suit and show him only running once which will be on the bike path. we were going to do a scene where he enters a lift and we filmed this but whilst watching it back we noticed that the walls were very bland and it looked very boring and it did not look mysterious or interesting and so, we have decided that we are going to go with our new place which is to re film the bike path but with him in a suit and to add more bits in which he will be walking through different locations.
Inspiration through out the time discussing and coming up with idea's has refered back to the film AdultHood, the opening of this film is montage's which we thought look effective and we plan create a monatge for the opening of our short clip. this film is highly influencial as our target audeince is the same as Adulthood's. we want to target teenagers and people in their early twenty's and this is because we are leading up to a similar storyline but not as stereotypical. this is why we decided not to put our main character in tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie but instead in a suit as this is not expected of a teenager and adds to our individuality.
On the 2nd march we went out to burnage to the location we are set to film, and began to shoot some of the begining, this was partially successful as our actual filming techniques are good but we think the actual footage looks slightly boring and so becaus eof this we are going to do some more planning and re-shoot som eof it after we have come up with a stronger storyline. we are also going to look at the editing affects that we can use on Final cut pro and see what type of affects we are going to put on the footage, what we had in mind was a black and white affect as we think it suits the mood of the film and genre.
